These scams occur with lots of advertised items on the net (not just tractors) and in auto trader magazines etc. A friend is advertising a 1998 GMC diesel tow truck and ended up with phone calls from Nigeria and elsewhere in Africa offering a variety of complicated purchase arrangements involving U.S. cashiers checks.
They all were scams.
The net attracts lots of con artists. Decent people like you and me like to think that most people are honest, respectful and nice. Most are, but the real b*st*rds in this world find the internet really handy to take advantage of people.
