sounds like a nut job to me! i definitely would not have been that nice to her. of course, basic stupidity is one of me pet peeves. people have been trying to get the trucking industry to adopt and enforce emissions for years. the fact of the matter is that all diesels belch black smoke when put under load. this is normal for diesel engines and that puff of black smoke is no more dangerous to the environment than her car is. i also see it this way. think about mileage in terms of hours your machine works during the day. if your tractor runs for 12 hours per workday on 30 gallons of diesel, approximate that to a car getting 400 miles to a tank of gas. i mean, if you think about it, tractors dont do to bad on mileage if you look at it that way.
