Thanks for all the info. I welded the two sockets together and got the outside stop off the rail. Then I loosened the bolts that hold the slides to the hub and ran the tractor forward and reverse this got the slides moving on the rails but I could only move the rim in because I still couldn't get the inside stop off, mostly due to the position of it. But I made some good progress yeasterday then got fusterated and left and I can go back and take another look later.
