Super 55 Fuel Line

I was cleaning out the Carb and fuel bowl tonight tring to get my Super 55 to run better, Which I did. In doing so I notice that the fuel line is ran with in an eight of an inch of the exhaust manifold. The line comes out of the bowl, cross behine the back of the engine and turn down right at the exhaust manifold. Its a steel line. This seems to me like this is too close to that heat the exhaust will give off. Does this sound right?
I looked at my other Super 55 and it's ran in the same way.
