Help , My J D 5020 broke

My JD 5020 stoped going foreward. After a little inspection, I saw the right dules out about 8" showing the large bearing. I believe there is a good indication I broke the axle? Is there a chance it came loose from the inside? Has anyone out there ever had this happen? Is this big job? Looks like the right side housing needs to be removed. JD says the axel is no longer available. Is there any used parts dealers in the mid west? I live in calif and not much here. Why does this stuff happen during the busy season?
