I remember back in 66 when my first girlfriends brother and hs wife found a WC Allis in a pond. They pulled it out and I believe, fixed it. I do remember e commited suicide later. Maybe getting it fixed was the cause. ha ha. Anyway, Back in the old days, it woulda been dang hard to start a D, say, if the Ice was strong enough to hold one up on it. It would have been much easier, and wiser, considering the difference in weight, just to harness up a team of horses, as everybody kept a team nearly back then, and go out on the ice with them. Money wise, if an accident did happen, the team was a much cheaper loss than the tractor, faster to harness up and use, and if they were a good team, you didnt have to be too close to them to work them. unlike a tractor, where, if it goes down, whoevers driving goes down too. BUT, ya never know
