go for it, however check the compressor to make sure it is good (seals, valve, clutch) before investing a lot of time in it.
use a new orfice and filter dryer for the gm unit. remove exp valve or other metering device from the cab unit and flush both out add new oil to compressor and recharge. I would charge with whatever the gm unit uses.
