Continental engine ID

I have a tractor build from odd parts and pieces many years ago. I believe it has a Continental engine with a number of P28-204656-. The dashes are stars in the stamped number. It is a flathead staight 6 gas engine. Most likely military from WWII. I am trying to determine the engine to locate parts, rings and maybe bearings, to rebuild it. It has a Mopar distributor and other parts on the engine. If anybody has any idea what this thing is please email me. I would like any links to websites that may be of help too. I have been searching but have found no help. Thanks.
