I use these rules. 1.Best to use brand for your tractor, in your case Hy Tran. 2. Next best is to use your specs (in your case Hy Tran) number, and then buy NAME BRAND fluid that meets that spec. Example Pennzoil Hydra-Tranz. Check at Pennzoil web site may meet your HyTran spec. Tractor Supply sells Pennzoil Hydra-Trnaz for $29.99 per 5 gal bucket. 3. Third choice is to use off brand fluids that meet your spec. I would not do it, but in theory you should be safe. But, this approach is reserved for tight-a?? people who are willing to accept some risk to save a very few bucks. 4. Fourth choice is to use off brand fluid that does not meet your exact specs. This approach is reserved for those who like to spend huge bucks on huge rebuilding problems - - then cry about it at the local coffee shop.
