These prices are pretty much in line. Like was said below, it is alot of labor involved. And 99 times out of 100, you don�t just knock off a set of linings, replace them and bolt everything back together. The brake disc is probably scored and warped, the piston seals should be replaced,and if run too long, the plates that the pads rivet to are probably worn or rivet holes elongated, and the trans oil and filters need to be changed.The dealer or shop has to warranty their work and will not be inclined to do a half way job, not to mention the safety or legal aspect of doing a patch job on brakes. So they are trying to give you a reasonable estimate of what they think the cost will be.
