Well, I'm not confident of my answer to email it but I understand the term "running in" to mean the same as breaking in, as in "breaking in a new engine". Maybe some of you are old enough to remember this. Back in the '50s, our music teacher had a brand new fiat. In the back window, there was a decal which said "Fiat Running In", which, I suppose, was to let the people in any vehicle behind her know that she was driving slow for a reason.
