If changing manifold has created the problem, it is possibly : 1) leaking air into manifold - did you change the gaskets? tighten the manifold bolts/clamps evenly and in the proper sequence? a warped manifold? 2) muck, rust or etc stirred up when carburettor removed? Blocked jet? debris blocking the float valve? You don't say why you changed the manifold in the first place, so carb settings may need altering to get it starting easier. Carb settings are adjusted with engine at operating temperature, adjust main mixture control, then to idle setting and slow running adjustment, setting at best running position in each case. Cycle round again to check settings haven't changed and when all is done, try it. Regards, RAB
