Refurbishing tractors can be a money making business, ei taking a decent runnning tractor and performing needed tune up work and repainting. If you are doing overhaul work on the engine and transmission you will lose money everytime. Most people would rather pay for an overhaul then buy one and take the sellers word that ALL NEEDED WORK WAS DONE. To many people have been burned by freshly painted engines that have broken rings and heads full of stop leak. They know the seller is trying to turn a profit and have avoided performing the most expensive repairs. Several time an "honest" field tractor at a farm auction will out sell a shiny "shop" tractor at a consignment sale.
