I worked as a service tech at a New Holland dealership that was at about 4300 ft or so elevation. Those older tractors seemed to handle it fine. You obviously won't make the power you'll have at sea-level, but just lean out the mixture some so you're not running too rich. The high-altitude pistons and the like are used to compensate for the lower atmospheric pressure at higher altitudes, but regular engines will run just fine with a little less power, because you can't burn as much gasoline. Fuel economy should be better at your altitude. A good tune-up should have you running fine.
