I am using it because I didn't have a complete soil test, only pH, so the magnesium level is unknown. Also, the ground hadn't been limed in about 10 years so I think it is good to go with the extra magnesium; maybe next year I will do a full soil test. I don't think you really have to worry about getting too much magnesium on in this situation. It also seems that dolomitic is what is available in my area in bags, probably that is what the nearest quarries have and the trucking is the least costly.
