Jerry - I've found the Minneapolis Moline U perhaps the easiest old tractor to mount/dismount. It has a wide footplate mounted behind the axle at drawbar height - it's simple matter to step on and off. Being a hand-clutched tractor, with a swingway seat and with the steering wheel offset to the left, it is easily (and safely) operated while standing up. My father in law (farmed with Farmalls for 65+ years) has bad knees. He has recently become VERY fond of my U because of it's easy accessibility for him. Punch below for a few pix of the U including a rear end shot showing the operator station. Good luck - hope you make the fullest possible recovery from your surgery and get back to tractoring very soon!
