Gas or diesel?
Diesel - could simply be an injector.
Gas - could be carbon build up.
Either - small end (often more of a 'rattle')
big end, main bearing, broken crank.
R u sure it is not a broken ring, lousy tappet setting etc. Not much to go on. Cost generally increases the longer u run it before correcting though, and often at an alarming rate.
