Make sure it is a second brass ring and not the bottom of the copper sleve. You can use a small screw driver and wedge it into the bottom of the ring and it should come out. Use a small brush and clean the bottom of the sleve, Install new copper and try again. If it still leaks you will have to replace the copper sleve. Don't forget to drain the water if you have to replace it>
