I have an 8N, and the reserve is accessed by opening the valve at the sediment bowl all the way. Obviously, when you are in normal operation, you would only open the valve something like 1 1/2turns.

If your tractor has had the sediment bowl/valve replaced, this after market valve may not operate like the original.
