They probably differ a little from one style to another. I have steel fronts for my H Farmall. The wheel itself appears to be a solid peice casted of caste iron. The skid ring appears to be casted of steel. The rear wheel's on my H are skeleton. Appear to have a caste iron center with spokes riveted to the center. The spokes I am guessing are not true caste iron and are probably steel or alloy casted. I am guessing the outer rim is made of simular stuff to the spokes. The lugs appear to be caste iron casted with perhaps an alloy. They chip when they hit rocks and so on. A true steel I don't believe would chip in that manner. Caste iron is brital and most parts casted of caste iron are casted thick. Steel will actually bend before it breaks unlike caste iron. Steel has a little flexibility where caste iron would probably just snap into before you could bend it. Wheel centers or if the entire wheel is one casted piece, it is probably caste iron. Skid rings, outer rims, riveted spokes, lugs and so on are probably casted of steel or an alloyed steel/caste iron. Style of wheel's can vary. Some have riveted spokes, some don't and so on.

Elliott said while this
