Your 8N should handle a 4' rotary no problem. As others have said if you get into some real heavy stuff you can just take half a swath. If you haven't bought the 4 footer yet I would really have you consider buying a 5 footer instead. The 5" fits just right behind your N's rear tires and allows you to cut closer to objects. Make SURE you have an ORC (over running clutch) on your tractor's pto. Other wise all that inertia from the rotary will propell you into things and places you didn't want to go. PS My 2N handles a 5' rotary just fine. And I have cut down shrubs and brush that are approaching 2" in dia without it hurting anything. Have fun.
