Thanks so much for answering!! The tractor still runs, but starts strangely, as if the battery were very weak and almost gone. And the amps gauge reads 20 amps the whole time its running. As to "flashing the fields", I have no earthly idea what that means, but I will look on this site and search for what it means. I read somewhere about touching two wires together at the voltage regulator to reverse the polarity of the generator(?). Maybe that is it. Thanks again. It's a relief to think I haven't trashed the electrics altogether. Thom
