Yes the efficiency of the engine is increased. Anything that increases the horsepower output of a given engine without changing the displacement must be increasing effieciency. In this case its allowing the addition of more fuel by increasing the density of the air.

I was going to say: What it doesn't do is directly increase fuel efficiency because you're still putting more fuel into the engine than before.
However, you should see an increase in fuel efficiency because the increased power should make the engine do less work. But, with the increased cooling demands, increased fuel quality demands, weight of the turbo itself, etc. It could very easily be a wash.

Still, on the whole, since its a very simple question, I'd say yes, a turbo does increase fuel effieciency.

Isn't it kind of like cheating if we help you?
