I have a compact with a hoe that I bought to dig my electric trench after the coop wanted $14,000 for the trench alone (1/2 mile). It worked pretty well down the mountain, between the trees, until I got close to my neighbor's meadow. Hit an underground stream and sunk in over the back axle. Being the only tractor around, and not enough hoe to pick up the tractor, I called a wrecker who, after scratching his head awhile, hung a snatch block up in a tree to both lift and pull the tractor's posterior out. Wouldn't have worked if I hadn't helped with the loader. After that the installation went well. A few years later I was cutting the last stretch of road to replace the 30% slope driveway the "professional" road builder left me (now 15%). This was across a steep enough slope we still have occasional guests who get so scared looking down they won't come back (it's a ways down to the bottom). Anyhow, cut and fill, cut and fill, work another 80' tree... All was fine until the fill slipped under the outside track leaving me dangling. The help KNEW they weren't getting paid that week as I was about to die. Turned out all I had to do was hook my truck winch to the Cat's rear and pull it sideways from up on top. Love that 300' of cable and serious winch. The truck had to be nosed into a tree to keep it from sliding. Had to do that twice, but when I finished my wife declared me a genius. That's clearly not the case, but now I don't have to pull her up every time it rains. And she's a happy woman.

I have been restoring old Farm Tractors for the past 6 years, and have found it easier and less expensive to hit all the auctions and purchase whole tractors for parts needed. My wife who works at a local school, and only has weekends and summers off, while on t
