Al, The crankcase takes 6 quarts of probably 30 weight oil. As for detergent vs. non detergent, you'll get more opinions on that than Carter's has little liver pills. Check with the guy you bought it from to see what he was using. The oil bath air cleaner should also have 30wt, fill it to the mark on the bowl. The transmission takes 6 gallons of 90wt gear lube. Brakes are just binders around a drum and easy to deal with assuming yours is an H and not a Super H. Get a manual. You can find reprints and originals on Ebay. Meantime, check the link below for good sources for parts and info on the H. Steve
