Be very careful, if it looks good your bank will take it and give you access to the funds. But if it comes back from the home or issuing bank (usually a week later) as no good (fake), guess who "your" bank recovers the funds from. (Hint - Remove the 4th letter from the word in quotes) FYI - it works the same way for - personal checks, money orders, postal MO, electronic transactions and CASH. We had a local event here a year or so ago where an older woman went to the bank and withdrew funds for her daily events. At one of her stops, a twenty was not accepted by the store (they claimed it counter fit) and notified the police. After a short investigation, it was determined that the bank had gotten swindled and had accepted several of the bad twenty's and all were confiscated and she recovered her money. The bills had apparently been marked to look like someone had already run that tell-tell pen across them showing it to be a good bill. But had the police not determined the bank still had several of them in their drawers she would have been left out in the cold. The bank told the woman "your loss, how do we know they came from us".
