Model L Case Question

I am about to reinstall the engine in a 1929 Model L Case. The end of the camshaft is visible from the rear. It appears that lubricating oil from the cam bushings could run into the bell housing and crate a problem. Should there be a cap, like a frost plug, to seal up this opening.
