I have a 312 myself and it is an excellent unit the Kohler engine in mine is cast iron and in my opinion they are one of the best small engines made, the only drawback that I can come up with on mine is the mower deck is a rear discharge and if you get a strong wind behind you it tends to blow the grass on your back
