I bought a 310 the first year they were made (1985). It has held up well even though it has gotten a lot of hard use. I just had the motor rebuilt and it should last for many more years. The dealer where I purchased it also operates a welding shop and I've had the top plate of the mower deck replaced twice (welded a new plate where the spindles mount for the blades). This seems to be the only part of the 310 that has required any repair outside of regular maintenance items. The 300 series Wheelhorse has a much studier construction (even the mower deck) than the MTD units that are being sold today under a variety of names. My neighbor has one of these newer units: It works fine, but will not last as long as my old Wheelhorse has. The one thing that I would change about the 310 is the mowing speed. You will find you mow in 2nd gear high range at full throttle and it still seems a little slower than you might like, but 3rd gear is too high/fast to use for mowing. Hope this helps.
