Did you buy "as is" and was it a private party or dealer. You should be able to sue the seller if they refuse to refund your money. Read your sales contract. Were there any independent witnesses to the sale or terms or the sale? Did the seller place written ads? You will probably need to show that the seller knew about the defect. It will cost you a few thousand dollars to sue the scum but for the amount of money you are talking about it would be worth it. Please be advised that this free legal advice is worth what you are paying for it. Also, the advice from the "law student" is worth even less.
