I would normally say the 801, until you said it has the select-o-speed transmission. It was ahead of its time, but was very difficult to repair. Many farmers traded them out for the standard 5 speed.
It you intend to work it, the nod goes to the 801, even with the SOS. It's newer and bigger.
For collectability, get the 8N. It's still a workhorse, but it is more sought after than an 801.
P.S. I heard users of the SOS used the inching peddle when changing gears to avoid the lurch.
