Here in southern Manitoba we haven't hit -40 this winter and we usually do on two or three nights in January in fact we haven't had much lower than -30C but this winter but it has only warmed up about 5 - 8C degrees during the day with only a couple of 1 day breaks in the weather and I heard it on the radio the other day that this is the coldest (average temp.) winter here since 1978.
For those who don't know about Celcius:

Farenheit = (9/5 X C) +32 or -32.

-40C = -40F and 0C = 32F I was brought up on Farenheit and I still can't think in Celcius.
