I've been fighting them for 20 years. When it gets warm out, they swarm the side of the house and barn by the thousands. Like George said, soap and warm/hot water in a 3-gallon sprayer works well. Dish washing liquid soap seems to work best for me and you can use it for pest control in the garden too. The other thing you might consider is cutting down the Box Elder trees. They are a rather trashy tree with limbs that hang down and give you a pain when mowing under them.
