The way I remember it, here in Tennessee, there were odd and even days based on your license tag number on which a fellow could by gas. Dad was a marketing agent for one of the oil companys from the late 50's through the mid seventies....I was a teenager then, but the phone never stopped ringing for at least a couple of months back in 1973..."Jack, I need 40,000 gallons here on tuesday". Dad couldn't get the gas, told em he didn't know when he could have the gas....It was very stressful for him....I really think he felt like he let his customers down....If there was a something funny going on, and Dad swore there wasn't, It was way above him.....
