In my part of the country, most of us were dragged (kicking and screaming) into no-til by the Federal Government, i.e. ASC.....ASCS.....FSA.....CCC.....or whatever name they're calling themselves this week. To participate in the various farm programs, one was forced to comply with whatever standards (in this case; soil erosion) were put forward. As to whether conventional tillage, reduced tillage or no-til is better; it's like most things......it all depends.
