Frankly, I'm AMAZED at the work that thing will do. I've dug footing trenches, water lines, electric lines, dug up trees, you name it.

The limiting factor is that it doesn't have much reach, so if you're digging a big hole, you run out of places to put the spoil pretty quick. Also, if you're digging a deep trench, you wind up having to move the tractor every three feet or so of trench as the full digging depth is with the boom pointing almost straight down.

It takes a long time to do big projects, and I've gotten to the point where I'll go rent one of the mini-trackhoes for a really big project, but ya can't beat 'em for quickie projects around the place.

I refer to mine as my "hydraulic shovel". At 52, with a bad back, I'll hook the hoe up for any project that would take more than 10 minutes with a shovel.

For me, it's been money well spent.
