If you can afford the Ford 600 series I would opt for that. I purchased a 9N over a 640 because of price; the 9N was 1200 less. Both looked about the same, needed paint and tires. Mechanically they were equal also. The 9N has done most of what I wanted it to do which is the same as you, mow 4 acres, blade the drive, etc. Have not needed to run a post hole digger. Make sure you operate the 600 for a while (30 min) if possible before you purchase and check over carefully.
As another stated, new paint does not make the tractor perform any better. Also has been said that one can do small jobs with a big tractor but cannot do big jobs with a small tractor. And once you have the tractor in your yard, you will find many uses for it.
