Never used one, but my uncle built several from old water tanks & forage blowers. In light snow (4-6") you just drive. In deep snow or high drifts, you can back into the snow as far as practical, then lower the blower & blow forward. Repeat until you get through the deep part. Not the fastest, but it works.
