Female mutilation is practiced throughout the Moslem world to varying degrees and occurs in the west with their immigration. "Normal" in Egypt and gets worse the farther south or more rural you go. Dear friends of ours are Missionaries who travel from country to country setting up hospitals and educating the local midwives. The stories they have told are haunting. During the Serbian "ethnic cleansing" the solders would "disgrace" the women and the men of the household would kill their own wifes/daughters/sisters to maintain honour. Life is cheap to most of the world. As for oppression of women try any African country except some parts of South Africa. Then take a look at Yemen or how about Saudi Arabia where they made school girls perish in a fire rather than allow male fire-fighters to enter the burning dormitory. Wasn't considered decent to rescue women in their PJ's. Then there's Oman,Iran,Iraq,Jordan,Syria,Afghanistan,Pakistan,Nepal and regions of India,Bangladesh,Burma,Indonesia,Malaysia,Philippines,Yugoslavia,Bulgaria,Romania,Hungary, etc. The West with it's value on Life and Liberty is a pretty small percentage of the worlds population and land mass. A politically correct statement here that passes as normal here can get you killed in the rest of the world for violating something Mohamed or Allah said.
