Belt pulley starting is much safer than pulling. No chains, straps, or ropes to break or communication problems to overcome.
Just put the running tractor pulley in alignment with the dead one's pulley, slide the flat belt (as short as practical) on with a twist so the dead engine rotates in the correct direction, tighten the belt, and ease the pulleys into action.
CAUTION--be sure both tractors are in NEUTRAL and brakes locked.
You can "motor" the dead engine for as long as needed to build oil pressure, check for spark, etc. without running alongside a moving target.
