IF it is a leakage problem, it might just be (and hope it is) the head gasket. May just need the head tightening down properly - and the sooner the better if it does - if it has not ben re-torqued since overhaul, for example.
Could also be a warped head and just need skimmimng to true it.
Just look at the simple low cost alternatives first and worry at the high cost ones later - unless, of course, you are looking at buying it, when you assume the worst, and breathe a sigh of relief when it turns out to be a zero cost remedy!
