I have a similiar problem with a Ford 3000 gas.
The wiring harness is too short for the wire at the rear of the engine. Occassionally it will pop up out of the head and loose contact. Did find that I have to keep the spark plug on that cylinder tighter than the others to keep the plug wire from blowing off. Wierd!! or what. And so it goes in Ford country. Good Country!!!!
