Don't worry, the novelty will wear off. Remember when the kids could hardly wait to cut the lawn years ago ... how long did that burst of energy last? Same thing with the wife's new toy. You could always hammer the plug gap shut and take it back and ask her to do it by hand (with a plastic shovel for less noise).
