Jeff, try posting this on the Orphans and Oddballs board. More likely to get a response there. I have just acquired a 270 that used to have a loader on it - previous owner kept it to put on another Leyland he has. The loader should be hooked to the remote hydraulics and should operate when the lever is in the HYD or PTO position. What you may have moved while trying to figure it out is the remote hydraulic control, the top outside control on the quadrant. It needs to NOT be in draught mode (I will have to look at mine just to be sure about that though). Since this is your first tractor I would advise you to get the owner's and service manuals for the beast. Tractors are not too complicated but the book will keep you from inadvertantly breaking something. Just remember - BE SAFE. A tractor can pinch you in numerous places. Farming is the most hazardous occupation there is for a reason. A 10,000 pound tractor with a spinning PTO can do alot of damage if something snaps.
