I have a1940 H that is equipped with the three brush generator and cutout relay the 4 position light switch does not work so I adjusted the third brush so the system would charge about 3 amps at wide open throttle. not perfect but it works. I use this tractor with belly mower so it runs wide open most of the time. I now have all the parts I need to restore the system to original, maybe will get this done before the mowing season starts again.
