I went through DMV in Maine to register my trailer[live in NY] Its' easy,legal,and very affordable.Lots of trucking companies here in the N.E. do this. I paid about $100.00 for 5 year plate and registration slip. About what N.Y. would get for 1 yr. Plus there is no yearly inspection fee. I like to keep my trailer up to snuff anyway and don't need to pay somebody once a year to make sure my lights and tires are OK!
