I'm with you Paul. CaCl costs less than $20.00 a bag from Gemplers. I've got rims 20 years old that haven't had any rust. Even if I do have to buy a hundred $$ wheel band every 20 yrs thats still cheaper than 30 gallons of ethylene glycol. Seems to be a lot of concern about CaCl leaks but dropping 30 gallons of antifreeze on the ground will get EPA in a lot more of an uproar. Windshield washer fluid is methanol, about as deadly as stuff gets. Wouldn't even want to think about the fine for a spill of a reportable quantity of that. Had a tractor that I pulled the CaCl a few years ago and put antifreeze in, had to go back and add more weight. At least old CaCl makes good deicing fluid, highway dept is spraying roads with it here tonight.
