Another term you will see is "independent PTO". While "live PTO" usually refers to a 2-stage clutch which stops forward motion 1/2 way down, and stops PTO operation when depressed fully, the independent PTO is controlled by a lever that is completely independent of the clutch. You can engage or disengage the PTO anytime, without effect on forward motion of the tractor.
