The D17 is a "modern" tractor compared to the others you listed. Live PTO/Hydraulics, power adjust wheels etc. Either go see some tractors or get a hold of some books describing tractor performance. Then you'll have an idea of what you need. Go to a farmer nearby and see if he's got a minute to talk and describe what you want to do with it. Ask questions and he can answer them. Check the articles archive on this site, they offer basic info.
