there are two holes in the master cylinder were it's attached to the plate. one is about 1/4" and is the drain hole:when oil level in the reservouir reaches this hole, excess oil is draind to the transmission case. it is also the vent hole to the master cylinder. the other hole is sopposed to be were you say 'blank'. it is a very small hole that can be easyly bloked by contamination. this is the supply hole into the reservouir. on some tractors a different oil supply kit was added to the machine. were this kit was intalled the gasket between the master cylinder and the plate is blanked in the supply area. maybe such a gasket was used on your machine. the purpose of the kit was to prevent air from entering the brake circuit from small leakage at the brake pistons (in the final drives) by lifting oil supply to the brakes above pistons level. david
